The Kailos group offers a variety of specialized tools to help healthcare organizations identify and focus on key issues affecting bottom-line performance. We offer these tools separately to healthcare organizations and consultants who serve them, and are available as needed to provide or arrange for consulting support in their use.

The Disease Incidence Model™ predicts and benchmarks the incidence of disease in a population. Based on any age/sex distribution, its reports show:

  • Which diseases are likely to be most prevalent and most costly for this group;
  • What's unusual in expected disease incidence and costs for this group; and,
  • Whether costs for each disease are being driven by high-cost individual cases or high incidence.

This information is invaluable to IPAs, medical groups, health plans, employers, and other managing or planning for the health needs of a population.

The Disease Incidence Model™ is a trademark of our strategic partner, Strategic Health Resources®.

Market Share/Market Trends Kailos offers custom reports for hospitals, hospital systems and other healthcare providers using data from state sources (e.g., California's OSHPD), Medicare reports and other national and regional resources. We have included features such as:

  • Comparison of hospital activity by DRG, service line, diagnosis, procedure or specialized groupings of diagnoses or procedures
  • Hospital discharges, ALOS and average charges by payor group within a given market area
  • Assessments of competing hospitals, including patient origin, service profile, payor mix, utilization and financial performance measures.
  • Comparison of outcomes, including mortality, morbidity, ALOS and charges

The Kailos group offers Hospital Cost Benchmarking and helps hospitals to focus and implement cost-improvement efforts. Through our strategic partner The Healthcare Management Council, hospitals can compare costs with hospitals in a national partnership along three dimensions:

  • Clinical costs by service line and DRG, adjusted for outliers and differences in case mix
  • Functional costs by hospital department, fully adjusted for differences in services and costs included in each department
  • Span of control, measuring and comparing the flatness of the organizational structure in each function

Team Energy and Resource Assessment is available to assist hospitals and other organizations in managing the vast profusion of work teams. The tool assesses teams on two basic dimensions, energy and resources, and provides guidance to hospitals in deploying resources among teams and in identifying and addressing issues that inhibit team performance.
